On February 28, 2025, the fourth aircraft under the Edelweiss Air brand of Lufthansa Group officially took off and returned to Switzerland after completing its base maintenance at VAECO. Edelweiss Air is a leading Swiss holiday airline, wholly owned by Swiss International Air Lines and a member of the Lufthansa Group.
This event marks a significant milestone as VAECO successfully completed the Commercial Agreement – A350 Base Maintenance Service for four Airbus A350 aircraft of Lufthansa (DLH), fully complying with customer requirements for airworthiness and technical standards, as well as the strict regulations of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Looking back on the cooperation between the two parties, each milestone reflects remarkable progress:
- February 6, 2024: After more than a year of negotiations and thorough evaluations, the Commercial Agreement – A350 Base Maintenance Service with Lufthansa Group was officially signed, paving the way for long-term cooperation. This also marked the first time VAECO provided maintenance services under EASA Part 145 standards for a major European airline.
- April 17, 2024: VAECO completed the base maintenance for the first aircraft, marking a successful start to the project.
- July 14, 2024: The second aircraft successfully underwent maintenance and was delivered to the customer on schedule.
- September 12, 2024: The third aircraft returned to service after completing its base maintenance at VAECO.
- February 26, 2025: The fourth aircraft successfully completed its scheduled base maintenance, along with a cabin reconfiguration to align with Edelweiss Air’s branding, fully meeting Lufthansa Group’s expectations.
The successful completion of the Commercial Agreement – A350 Base Maintenance Service for four Airbus A350 aircraft is a significant milestone, reaffirming VAECO’s expertise, commitment, and reliability.
